Raspberry and Pomegranate Smoothie is a divinely delicious thick pink smoothie that is dairy-free, rich and creamy with a lovely natural sweetness. It contains a solid whack of fibre and is jam-packed with phytonutrients and antioxidants from the raspberries which are also regarded as anti-inflammatory. The flax seeds provide daily requirements of omega 3’s and actually contain more than about 3 times the omega 3’s (ALA) compared to omega 6. Flax seeds have been known to improve dry flaky skin through their fatty acids. Taste wise, this is one of my favourite smoothies and I always feel good when I have it.
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- ¾ cup frozen raspberries
- 1 tablespoon pomegranate powder (or the seeds of ½ a pomegranate, or 2 tbs freeze dried ones)
- 1 teaspoon flax seeds
- 1 heaped tablespoon macadamia nuts (can be exchanged for cashew nuts if necessary)
- Vanilla protein powder serving (rice/pea protein based with a natural sweetener)
- 4 ice cubes
- Place all ingredients in a high powered blender (in order above)
- Blend for 45 seconds or until well blended, smooth and a lovely light pink
