One of the reasons I created this website, was to compile a food temple of fast, easy, tasty recipes and to worship delicious divine good food. I love it! Flavour is extremely important. I like my meals packed with it. Then there’s health. I find when I am eating well, I am clear headed, energetic and feeling wonderful. But throw in processed food, fast food, or too much cheese, cream, meat, sugar, bread, preservatives, chemicals in food and a host of other factors, and the opposite is true. I want to highlight recipes that don’t always include these ingredients and still taste great. But I still also eat and document recipes for no other reason than they taste so good. Variety and everything in moderation right? Okay, I will admit, that sometimes I pack more cheese in a recipe than I should, because I love it, especially with wine!
Like most people, I work hard and at the end of the day all I want to do is drop on the couch and sink in. Where’s my butler please? I’d like the silver tray now, with my home cooked magnificent roast lamb with glistening with pan juices accompanied by a range of scrumptious roast vegetables – oh and I’m not doing the dishes. How I wish this decadent fantasy could be real. But I am not a rock star or silicon valley billionaire. When I get home after work I feel exhausted at the idea of having to then slave away in the kitchen. To make life easier and have more free time, it is essential that meals be quick and easy to make. The challenge comes when trying to make them healthy as well as packed with flavour, and fast and easy to make, and that is always my aim wherever possible.
The perfect meal, recipe or diet plan will never be the healthiest if I won’t or can’t follow it. That is my belief from my own experiences. Since I don’t have hours a day to spend in the kitchen, I will be doing my best to balance health with flavor and convenience. Bland stuff just doesn’t cut the mustard. Oh, and some recipes do reflect the fact that I am a work in progress at moderating my intake of cheese. Just keeping it real.
The biggest revelation I’ve had from food besides it being impossibly delicious, is that it can also promote healing in cases where nothing else works. I want to share what I learn about that in the hope that it may help someone else too.
